A heel is considered high when the heel is raised from the floor, with respect to the fingers, more than three centimeters. Heels are a form of masochism, as they give pleasure and pain at the same time.
Walking in heels hurts, and running is impossible. They are designed in such a way that they prevent us from being efficient in displacement. Wearing high heels sandals, in the long run, because the woman, in order to suffer as little as possible, saves many walks, and with it, calories: the elevator is expected, the car is parked near the place of arrival, the escalators are taken; In the end, in women heels we walk as little as possible. Heels damage the feet and can even damage the spine, but they are the happiness of podiatrists; these live from the damage that heels produce. When we support the foot completely barefoot on a surface, the front part, the metatarsal, supports 43% of the body weight in each step we take, while the back part of the foot, the heel, supports 57% of the remaining body weight. When we use 4 cm heels, the situation is reversed: the front part of the foot supports 57% and the heel 43%. With heels of 6 centimeters, the front part supports 75% and the heel 25%, with heels of 10 centimeters or more, the front part supports 90% of the weight and the heel, 10%. So our weight falls on the place where we have less protection. When aging, fat deposits that protect the bones, muscles and tendons of the foot are lost. Some doctors offer silicone or body fat fillers, but others claim that these fillers can move and cause even greater damage. In addition, foot surgeries become easily infected and nerves can be injured for life. Commercial insoles are an intermediate solution to the lack of fat inside the foot. The heels modify the posture of the body, the ankles can be mistreated, the possibility of suffering a sprain is increased, the tension on the knees is increased, and even, the hip joint can become unadjusted, which translates into pain of back. When heels are worn permanently, a retraction occurs in the Achilles tendon, and affects an area that extends from the back of the heel to the calf. The women who have shortened the tendon, walk steep when they are barefoot, because it hurts to support the heel. It is advised that if you wear high heels, these are thick, because they offer better stability than those of the needle, improve balance, and the weight of the foot is distributed more evenly. The heel slope is important: the more slope, the more damage to the arch of the foot. It is preferable that the fall in height be gradual. The platforms offer a moderate solution. The ugly bunions are a product of the use of heels, also calluses and hammer toes. Why, knowing their dangers and how uncomfortable they are, do we insist on using them? Because when using them, women report feeling more beautiful, with their spirits high and definitely sexy. In addition, most people like to gain a few centimeters in height. If we look at them with distance, we realize that they are absurd. In the television series of the seventies, Baretta, the policeman (played by actor Robert Blake), whose pet was a white cockatoo, in an unforgettable sequence disguises himself as a prostitute, to discover a criminal. When he appears on the scene, Baretta runs after him, and it is tragic-comical, since it is very, very difficult to run with heels; in the end, Baretta takes off her shoes, and flies, until she grabs him. But there is a reason not so obvious and fundamental in the overwhelming success of heels: they add points to the reproductive value of a woman. They modify the walk, make it more feminine and insinuating. In a study conducted by psychologist Paul Morris, women of different ages and weight were analyzed, walking barefoot and in heels. An interesting methodology was implemented: using specific points, specific parts of the body were marked, relevant in the distinctive locomotor pattern of our species. They were filmed in the dark as they walked, so that only artificial light spots were visible. A group of observers, made up of young men and women, should judge how sexy the participants' walk was. The result greatly favored those who wore heels. Walking in heels was evaluated as significantly more attractive. When wearing heels, women take shorter and more frequent steps, bend their knees less and rotate their waist more broadly. So high heels increase the expression of attributes of the female constitution and therefore of sexual attractiveness. Heels cease to be absurd when they are valued from a biological point of view, as the sexual attractiveness of those who have the courage to use them grows significantly.
